Yo Mark - I was wondering mate...
I started to learn drums when I was a kid but was never allowed a kit Sad Now in my autumn years (I was 30 in August - how OLD do I feel?!?!) I have bought my very first kit!!! It's a kit bought from the ex-drummer from The Verve who now has a shop up in Stockport called Drummin - he's even signed the floor tom - top banana!
Anyway....i've been basically just letting the natural rhythm flow and seem to remember quite a bit from my year's worth of lessons when I was a teen. However, I need some coaching and I wondered if you've ever thought of passing on the benefit of your enormous talents?

(Apologies to anyone else who is as old or older....no offense...i'm just turning into an old git Razz)

Good call. If I lived in England (*sob*) I would have asked MD for lessons long ago!

Hi Simon,

I did give lessons awhile back but to be honest it's a lot harder than it looks. I find it fairly easy to play mate but relying that to someone is abit tricky. I know Pete's store he's a good guy, he's sells a brand of drums I work for.....top bloke!
Best advice...lock yourself in a room for a year and play along to all your fav tunes, then start to create your own mix and style. Best to get the basic's of someone first though..not like me. I had one lesson then did it all myself. I found out after EMF that I'd been doing certain things wrong for awhile..it sounded ok to me though. That's the problem with having to many lessons you start to moulded into the guy your learning from..which can be abit dodgy!

Anyway, have fun leaning mate that's the most important thing..

take care

Mark D

Top stuff Mark - that advice is 100% appreciated!
You're right about Pete - he's the salt of the earth - met him a few times at some after-gig partys with Richard Ashcroft - both very down to earth chaps.
Thanks again Mark - will carry on and take on board what you've said...i've got 'Unbelievable' licked already Wink

Anyone looking for a drummer? Razz
