It was roughly 1992... I was a bit of a leftie rabblerouser scumbag back in those days (I even had curly long hair Shocked but that was before I met the wife and all my hair fell out Laughing )...

Anyways, one day in the Student Union building I saw a poster with Garrett's head on it ... I read it and it turned out he was giving a lecture at Melbourne Uni about Nuggest Coombs!!!!!!! (Who was an economist or something).

So, I went to the lecture to meet him!!!

I was sitting up the front with a group of bogan girls who thought Peter Garrett was some sort of sex symbol ( Exclamation ) and the whole room turned around ...

And behind the glass door, you could see this huge body, but you couldn't see the head because he was taller than the door frame Shocked

So I grabbed my Oils poster and headed to the back of the room to ambush Peter Garrett and demand an autograph!

When I got there, he was yapping away withsome professor type boffins, I just pushed my way in and said "Peter Garrett, I am a huge fan and I love The Oils, can I have your autograph?"

He said: "Thanks mate, no worries. What's your name?"

I said: "Jason"

He signed the poster "Hi Jason. Peter Garrett" and said: "There you go, Jason".

I grabbed the poster and rushed back to my seat. All the bogan girls were in tears cause I met Peter Garrett!!!!!!

Then I sat and listened to him crap on about Nugget Coombes for an hour and then I went home Laughing

And there's nothing wrong with being a lefty with long curly hair, coz thats the easiest way to describe me. Dirty stinkin' hippy would be another way of putting it!

Yeah - i think i'm in that scary transition now. I don't wanna grow up but i don't think my ideal world will ever exist. I can't decide whether it's time to cut my hair and get a job or grow dreads and remain a bum. But if i ever vote for Howard you have my full permission to shoot me.

I think it's Stigma because all songs are really great! But I prefer the version of It's you on their Best of!

I cant choose between Stigma and Cha Cha Cha. On paper it would be Stigma but when Cha Cha Cha was released it was, to me, like a party on a CD. As if EMF had knocked it out on one drunken afternoon and listening to it you felt part of it. Plus 1995 for me was a crap year but putting this CD on just lifted me up, big time.

I think the press at the time just didnt get it but who cares? I remember at the time M People being what the press seemed to like so Im glad EMF were left out of it.

And, anyway, who doesnt like Stephen Fry?

i often think about the stigma album while listening these modern electronic/indie music. You can rerelease stigma now and all the people would like it (if you change the production a little bit). The Emf-boys were so ahead of the time... Laughing
